ARMY OF ONE Trailer

A few days ago the trailer for a new film called Army of One dropped. The film was directed by Larry Charles whose credits include Sasha Baron Cohen films Borat, Bruno and The Dictator. Army of One stars Nicolas Cage who in recent years seems to have become a bit of a joke, even though he has always done interesting work. People seem to forget that he has starred in films by Cameron Crowe, Francis Ford Coppola (his uncle), Alan Parker, the Coen Brothers, David Lynch and many other acclaimed directors over the course of his career. In short, I am a Cage apologist.

This trailer shows Nicolas Cage as a socially awkward man named Gary Faulkner. Gary believes that God (played by Russell Brand) has ordered him to travel to Pakistan to capture Osama Bin Laden (Amer Chadha-Patel). The rest of the trailer shows Gary’s attempts to travel to Pakistan as well as what he does once he gets to Islamabad.

I’m not sure which is stranger, the trailer or the fact that the trailer claims the film was based on a true story. This claim should be taken with a grain of salt as with the film Borat, Charles took some liberties with the truth as well, which led to a number of lawsuits from people who felt they had been duped.

Army of One will get release on VOD on November 4th with the Blu-Ray and DVD scheduled for release on November 15th. Find international release dates here.

After watching the entire trailer all I could think was “too bad they don’t make that show Celebrity Deathmatch anymore.” If the show was still on, who would you pick in a fight? Nic Cage or Osama Bin Laden? Let us know in the comments!
