KILL ME THREE TIMES Trailer

Kill Me Three Times

As a rule, I recommend any movie that Simon Pegg is in…except for Run, Fatboy, Run. That movie was abysmal, but this movie looks exceptional. It already has several positives going for it from the IMDb description alone. “It has three tales.”Good. “…Of murder, blackmail and revenge…” Awesome. “…After a botched contract assignment.” I’m totally interested in seeing it now! This is the trailer for Kill Me Three Times.

Warning: You should probably ignore the trailer and just watch the film. The trailer reveals too much but the film looks solid.

Coming out of Australia, this black comedy thriller is directed by Kriv Stenders and stars Simon Pegg and Alice Braga. Pegg plays professional assassin, Charlie Wolfe, on a job to off a rich man’s wife. As it turns out, he is not the only one. Reading reviews, the gist of the movie lies in the fact these characters are incapable of finding satisfaction in life either emotionally or monetarily. The part that gets my attention is the claim that the movie is engaging and insightful. These are not words you hear often from modest reviewers. As always, Simon Pegg is in top form as an entertaining yet methodically cold pro-killer.

The opening scene for the trailer was a great choice. Simon’s assassin character is in the process of finishing his kill. Then his phone rings and he responds to whoever is on the other line “Yeah, I’ll be there in an hour”. This is a perfect setup for the tone I expect to see in the full release. There is an interesting use of red and blue used in the trailer. From the moment Alice Taylor, played by Braga, enters a blue filled hallway, Wolfe follows moments later. Once Wolfe is through the blue hallway, a wave of red covers him usually signaling something like a predator about to finish his prey. We then see Alice opening a safe and stuffing her bag with cash. The last shot in this sequence is when she enters her car with red seating.

In the next sequence of scenes, guess what the dentist does to Alice. A lot of the good parts of the movie are being spoiled in this trailer so I’d rather not go on. It’s just fun that rather than the movie being stupid, it’s the characters that are legitimately screw-ups. Throughout the whole trailer, you get bits and pieces of reviews to advertise the film. Things like “Pure fun, executed with glee”. This is wholly unnecessary, the scenes and the movie can sell itself very well. Hence, I must warn you to not see the trailer and just watch the movie when it comes out.

Kill Me Three Times comes to U.S theaters April 10th 2015. It has already appeared in several International Film Festivals and was released in Australia last year. That’s not fair, Aussies!
