MAD MAX: FURY ROAD Trailer

Mad Max: Fury Road is the fourth installment of the 70’s-80’s Mad Max trilogy. It’s both a reboot and a continuation of the series – it’s written and directed by the original mastermind: George Miller, co-writers being Nick Lathouris and Brendan McCarthy. While the idea was shortly entertained to have him return as Max, Mel Gibson has been replaced by Tom HardyCharlize Theron stars as the one-armed Imperator Furiosa, and Nicolas Hoult and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley feature as Nux and Splendid, respectively.

At San Diego Comic Con, last weekend, the first trailer of the movie was presented. It looks absolutely awesome, just watch it:

I, for one, am crazy excited about this film. Have been, for forever. The film was already (largely) shot in 2011, so, it’s truly been a long time. I loved the crazy dystopia of the original movies; they’re unique movies. I’m happy to see George Miller’s distinct style is still there for Fury Road.

The trailer features plenty explosions, fights and chases, but everything looks great: very little CGI was involved,. George Miller is known to use very little green screens – and it certainly helps the realism. The costumes and vehicles look horrifying and gritty, a lot of attention were paid to them. Furthermore, I love the saturation of the colors, while everything still looks bleak, it’s a great contrast: the world seems colorful, but all is covered in the sepia shade of the desert.

Another reason I’m excited about this movie is the fact they cast Tom Hardy as Mad Max. I’m not ashamed to admit I’m a fan of his – he’s an excellent actor, which he’s proven time and again, in lead as well as supporting roles. We see very little of Max in this trailer, but I’m sure future trailers will reveal more of him.

“My name is Max. My world is fire and blood.” Tell me that that isn’t exciting.

Mad Max: Fury Road will be released on May 15, 2015 in the U.S. and the U.K. For international release dates, please check here.

What do you think of this “reboot” of Mad Max, and its trailer? What do you think of Tom Hardy replacing Mel Gibson?
