MARSHALL Trailer
Marshall is an upcoming film about the life and times of the first African-American Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall (Chadwick Boseman). Marshall became a widely known and respected lawyer when he won the pivotal Brown v Board of Education case which put an end to segregated schools in the United States of America. Marshall depicts Marshall during one of his early cases as an NAACP lawyer which revolved around a rich White woman Eleanor Strubing (Kate Hudson) accusing a Black driver named Joseph Spell (Sterling K. Brown) of sexual assault and attempted murder.
The trailer does a good job of depicting the circumstances of the trial as well as introducing the buddy dynamic between Marshall and Sam Friedman (Josh Gad) who was the other lawyer defending Joseph Spell during the trial. The trailer seems to hint at a fair few twists and turns during the trial both in the courtroom and outside of it which should make for an interesting watch. The one gripe I have with this trailer is its use of modern music in a trailer for a film that is clearly a period piece, other than that this looks like it will be an interesting courtroom drama.
Marshall is directed by Reginald Hudlin and stars Chadwick Boseman, Sterling K. Brown, Josh Gad, Kate Hudson and James Cromwell. It will be released in the U.S. on October 13th, 2017. For international release dates, click here.
