ONLY THE BRAVE Trailer

Only the Brave tells the story of the Granite Mountain Hotshots. The Hotshots were a team of elite firefighters who fought the June 2013 Yarnell Hill Fire near Prescott, Arizona. The Hotshots are introduced through the eyes of new recruit Brendan “Donut” McDonough (Miles Teller). Some of the guys give him a ribbing but team spirit is more important to this group of men than anything else. Looking out for each other is the only thing that will keep them alive during the dangerous work they do. When the Yarnell Hill Fire starts the Hotshots are called upon to make sure the fire doesn’t spread to nearby Prescott.

Only the Brave looks like a film that will celebrate both the camaraderie of the Granite Mountain Hotshots and the beauty of nature. The trailer also shows us how inhospitable a place nature can be for human beings, watching fire tear through huge forests looks both beautiful and devastating. Esquire recently put out an excellent piece about Josh Brolin during which he discussed having lived with a number of firefighters during his years away from the spotlight prior to his career resurgence thanks to No Country for Old Men. From the trailer, this looks like a film that will honor firefighters in the best way possible.

Only the Brave is directed by Joseph Kosinski and stars Josh Brolin, Miles Teller, Jeff Bridges, James Badge Dale, Taylor Kitsch Andie MacDowell and Jennifer Connelly. It will be released in the U.S. on October 20th, 2017 and in the U.K. on November 10th, 2017. For international release dates click here.
