MINIONS Trailer

Minions

Before I start the article, I have to discuss what Illumination Entertainment’s definition of a minion is. Their wiki describes “Minions” as simple-minded homunculi (small human representations) that are cylindrical and yellow in appearance. That is where the similarities stop as differences in height, roundness, hair, clothing, eye size and eye number differentiate them. In terms of personality they are very eager to please and are a friendly, fun-loving race.

Their language takes bits and pieces from English, Spanish, French, Russian, Korean and Japanese. Finally, they also love “bapples,” which is just their way of saying bananas and apples. Now that you have passed orientation, you should have more than enough support to begin your minion hunt. If you seek further detail, then please watch this trailer for the Minions (2015) documentary.

This documentary is directed by expert minion anthropic-zoologists Kyle Balda and Pierre Coffin. Minions introduces Kevin, Bob and Stuart who are our subjects in the film. These three minions are on a quest to combat their listlessness by finding the most despicable master around. Noted celebrities have also joined the coming hunt such Jon Hamm and Sandra Bullock. As great artists often do, these two have donned the hunting masks of Mrs. Scarlett Overkill and Mr. Herb Overkill. Our sponsors have informed us, they are posing as married super-villains in order to attract the minions into the United States borders.

If you would kindly focus your attention back to the trailer, you will notice many interesting features in the documentary. Notice their march upon land. Minions understand the concept of modesty by donning clothes and, in the case of Norbert, starfish. You will see they come from humble beginnings as pure blue ocean and the smooth texture of the land suggests. It looks as if it were beautifully rendered CGI perfected through painstaking work by a large team of collaborators. The small details are often the most impressive and telling. Upon meeting their first master, the T-Rex, the minions gaze up in awe. If you notice Norbert on the left, one of his starfishes falls off but quickly catches the wonder of another minion. This indicates distinct sensitivity and attention to detail that can be found throughout the trailer.

Lastly, you must understand minions are not pure followers lest you underestimate them in your hunt. As mentioned before, this film follows three subjects. By their choice of leaving the main group, it shows that minions are capable of independent thought. As we all know, independent thought is a precursor to excitement, joy, and good times hence the value of a minion.

Minions (2015) comes to U.S theaters July 10, 2015 and U.K theaters June 26, 2015. For a complete list of release dates, please click here.
