BODIES BODIES BODIES Trailer

A party game turns real in Bodies Bodies Bodies, the latest from director Halina Reijn.

The party was never going to be chill. The group of friends gathered at a mansion to ride out a hurricane don’t do calm parties, so after plenty of booze and drugs are consumed they turn to an intense game to keep the fun going. Bodies Bodies Bodies is a murder mystery, one that somehow always upsets the group, but this time a real murder occurs and the game turns deadly serious.

If the setup seems a bit extreme, that’s because it’s supposed to. The film is a satire dressed up as a horror film, an uncomfortable mix for Reijn to keep control of. She’s done uncomfortable before, though, with her 2019 movie Instinct, which saw a psychologist fall for the sex offender she was treating. Bodies isn’t as extreme as that, but she’ll still have to tiptoe around generational critiques that could easily be misunderstood.

The young cast she’s gathered is stellar, with Amandla Stenberg and Pete Davidson playing the outrageous hosts of the party. Guests are played by Maria Bakalova, Rachel Sennott, Chase Sui Wonders, Myha’la Herrold, and Lee Pace.

With the backing of A24, this oddball seems like a sure hit.

Bodies Bodies Bodies is directed by Halina Reijn and stars Amandla Stenberg, Pete Davidson, and Maria Bakalova. It will be released in the US on August 5th, 2022. For international release dates, click here.
