PERMISSION Trailer

In Permission, Anna (Rebecca Hall) and Will (Dan Stevens), a young couple, have never dated other people. Anna and Will start to re-evaluate their relationship after a dinner with Anna’s brother Hale (David Joseph Craig) and his partner Reece (Morgan Spector). Reece tells them they are a boring couple because they’ve only dated each other which makes Anna and Will start to doubt their relationship. What once seemed like a romance that was meant to be all of a sudden seems terribly boring.

As Anna and Will start to experiment with Dane (François Arnaud) and Lydia (Gina Gershon) respectively, their relationship starts to come apart at the seams. Meanwhile things start to get complicated for Hale and Reece as well; Hale wants to start a family while Reece doesn’t seem to be all that interested in giving up his freedom for a more domestic lifestyle.

Permission examines one of the biggest clichés in romantic films, which is the idea of all people having one person who would be the perfect fit for them. Does this kind of romance exist? Should you continue the search for this person when you’re already in a relationship? And how do you even know whether you’ve met this person or not? What if they live halfway around the world and you never get to meet them?

Permission might come up with surprising answers to all these questions but since this is a film, there is a certain expectation that things will work out in the end. It would be refreshing to see a film that dares to be different.

Permission is directed by Brian Crano and stars Rebecca Hall, Dan Stevens, Jason Sudeikis, and others. It will be released in the U.S. on February 9th, 2018 with an as of yet unknown U.K. release date. For international release dates click here.
