TABLE 19 Trailer

Jay and Mark Duplass have long outgrown their mumblecore origins, now balancing projects that, while not massive, are numerous enough to consider an established brand. Table 19 is another of their signature dramedies, which they wrote several years ago with plans to direct. The reigns were eventually handed over to Jeffrey Blitz in 2011, and with a long delay until production and even further delay until release, it’s hard to know exactly what to expect from the sluggish project.

Normally such a long delay spells trouble, but it would be curious for such a diverse and talented cast (which includes Anna Kendrick, Lisa Kudrow, Stephen MerchantJune Squibb and Craig Robinson) to attach themselves to a bad script. The trailer itself feels generic, but again it would be odd for the Duplass brothers to write something so frothy. Blitz doesn’t smell like a problem, either, as he has a well-received indie under his belt and a consistent series of television gigs.

So what is Table 19 going to be? The question is more intriguing than the trailer, which curiously never name drops the Duplass brothers. Instead, it banks on the star power of Kendrick and the charm of her two love interests (fun fact: the guy who dumped her is played by Wyatt Russell, Kurt Russell’s son). This will be enough to sell the film for some people, but there’s a possibility that the rom-com style trailer isn’t a true representation of the film.

Table 19 is directed by Jeffrey Blitz and stars Anna Kendrick, Lisa Kudrow, and Stephen Merchant. It will be released in the U.S. and the U.K. on March 3rd, 2017. For international release dates, click here.
