THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS Trailer

In an odd turn, the fast and furious family are being broken up by the very man who preached its importance. Vin Diesel’s Dom wouldn’t shut up about family in Furious 7, and while the sentiment matched the mood after series star Paul Walker’s passing, it will make for an abrupt change in its sequel.

This series is all about whiplash, though, and cars and butts and ridiculous action. Fans don’t come for a consistent storyline, they just want Dwayne Johnson to beat someone ‘like a Cherokee drum’. It looks like fans will get what they want in The Fate of the Furious, and considering how huge its predecessor was, they might have picked up some extra followers along the way.

It’s unlikely that Fate will achieve the same financial heights as Furious 7, but with action director F. Gary Grey at the wheel and a slew of familiar players from past installments and Grey’s previous projects, it seems like the series is doubling down on what it does best. Expect more unabashedly silly action, and take it all in with a smile.

The Fate of the Furious is directed by F. Gary Grey and stars Vin DieselCharlize Theron, and Dwayne Johnson. It will be released in the U.S. and the U.K. on April 14th, 2017. For international release dates, click here.
