The Power of Film Episode 1 Jen McGowan

I’m incredibly proud to bring to you the very first episode of the all new Film Inquiry podcast, THE POWER OF FILM.

In an episode of  The Power of Film, I, Manon de Reeper (Editor in Chief of Film Inquiry) will be interviewing someone active in the film industry; filmmakers, directors, producers, actors, screenwriters… You name it! I will talk with them about the projects they’ve worked on (or are working on at the moment), as well as what they love about film, and what makes it powerful to them, as a form of art.

In this first episode, Jen McGowan joined me. Jen is a director known for Kelly & Cal, a lovely film starring Juliette Lewis as an ex-punk rocker who has settled down in suburbia and now has to accept life as a mom. We discussed the messages of her film, how it was received, as well as what it was like to work with the legendary Juliette Lewis. We also talked about What Happened, Miss Simone?, Ninaand Mad Max: Fury Road. You can follow Jen on Twitter: @IAmJenMcG.

American viewers can order Kelly & Cal through Netflix’s DVD rental service, and Canadians can stream it from Netflix. You can also buy it through Amazon and iTunes!

One thing I need to note is that we had a bit of an issue with Jen’s audio track, somehow the recording had distorted without us noticing. We’ve tried to clear up the distortion as well as we could, but you’ll hear slight distortion towards the end of the podcast. My sincerest apologies – doing everything I can to make sure it won’t happen again!

Lastly, the music for this podcast was created by composer Anselme Pau (click here for his website) – thank you so much Anselme!

Please enjoy this first episode of The Power of Film!
